Residential elevators are increasingly becoming popular, and with the reputation, many questions have arisen. Queries about their cost, maintenance required, possible break down frequency etc. The latest question to this series is – Which are the most economical models? As a matter of fact, all residential elevators are costly to operate and require tremendous amount of maintenance. But out of the various categories, vacuum elevators are the most economical to install and run in homes and offices alike. The principle operation of the vacuum elevators is based on the ascending push produced by the difference between the atmospheric pressure on the top of the car and the atmospheric pressure under the car. These elevators operate by combining a vertical cylinder with a coaxial car that moves up and down through air suction.  Turbines operating as exhaust fans at the top of the elevator generate the required vacuum needed to lift the car. Vacuum Elevators contain a piston gear which is surrounded by a sliding air tight seal. This seal allows a frictionless movement and lifts the car due to the pneumatic depression generated on the upper part. On the other side, a valve regulating the inflow of air controls the pneumatic depression as well as the speed of the car.
