Being physically handicapped is perhaps not as bad or painful as enduring the stigma and braving the jibes that every person in a wheelchair has to face one time too many during their lifetime. Such people become the subject of jibes and jokes particularly when they are faced with the challenges of doing normal things that normal people do. Take climbing stairs as an example, there is hardly any chance that a wheelchair user will be able to climb down stairs unaided. This might make him the subject of some senseless mockery. Not just mockery or insults, consider emergencies, what if a wheelchair user needs to access a different floor in the house and he or she does not have anybody around the house to help?  Mobility aids is the only solution as far as complete independence is concerned.
